Composite Fillings

Composite fillings were first introduced in dentistry in the 1960’s and were restricted to the anterior teeth due to its lack of strength. Since then composites have been developed and strengthened that we could use it with very high success on back teeth as well.

We use composites to refill decayed teeth but we can also do cosmetic changes to teeth that has been discoloured and malformed.

Composites are placed with a layering technique where each layer is set with a specialized light. The final filling will be trimmed down that it fits together comfortably with the rest of the teeth. A clear coating can be placed over the teeth to help the composite not to discolour.
